Cascade is a small Seattle neighborhood, located in the downtown area. The family-friendly atmosphere, combined with beautiful views from many Cascade apartments and housing make this a desirable place to live. The community enjoys gathering at the Cascade Playground (or Cascade Park), which used to be the playground for Cascade school, which no longer exists. Cascade apartments are located nearby.

The park features two play areas, a field, a basketball court (half), restrooms and a picnic table. The restrooms and play area are ADA compliant. When the community isn't enjoying Cascade Park, you may find them at the P-Patch, which is adjacent. Also on the same block is the Cascade People's Center, a volunteer organization that aids the Cascade community in addressing social and economic justice.

Cascade is an industrial community, consisting of many newer and historical plants and corporations. The Ford Assembly Plant Building is considered a Seattle landmark and has been changed into a public storage facility. There are a variety of other buildings considered Seattle landmarks as well.

Some of these buildings have been converted into other uses, such as businesses and Cascade apartments or lofts. Still others are being used for their original purpose (like the Immanuel Lutheran Church) or are preserved. Another interesting Cascade structure and Seattle landmark is the Cascade staircase. It once was used to connect Cascade to Capitol Hill. Now Interstate 5 separates the remaining portion of the staircase, located between several buildings that currently house Cascade apartments.
